The short version
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics and no cookies.
- Kids never make accounts, and the site never asks a child for an email address or any other contact information.
- Without an account, everything is saved only on your own device.
- Accounts are optional and only for parents, guardians and teachers.
- We never sell, rent or share personal information, and we never use it for advertising.
Without an account
Everything a learner does is saved in the browser on your device: learners (first names only), study sessions, look settings, kept lessons, practice history for Review and Progress (which cards and questions were answered and how), reading, typing, math, puzzle and game scores. It is never sent to us. To make the site work offline, your browser also keeps copies of pages you've opened. Clearing your browser's website data removes all of it.
With an account
If a parent, guardian or teacher signs in, we save:
- their email address, so we can send sign-in links (there are no passwords);
- a copy of what's saved on their devices, as listed above, so it shows up on their other devices;
- when the account was made and last used.
You can sign out or delete your account anytime on the Account page. Deleting it removes everything saved in it right away. Copies in our weekly backups are gone within 12 weeks.
Requests
The Request something form sends us the idea, and optionally a first name, grade and subject. Only a grown-up can add an email address, and we use it only to answer that request. To stop spam, each request also saves a scrambled code made from the internet address (not the address itself), so one device can send only a few a day. Requests are kept so we can reply and plan new material; email hello@studymystyle.com to have one deleted.
Label It lessons
When someone makes a Label It lesson, we store its picture, name and labels so people with the link can open it. Only people with the link can see a lesson; lessons aren't listed or searchable. Please don't upload pictures of kids or anything with students' names. Anyone can report a lesson (the report includes only the reason typed in), and we remove lessons that break these rules. The maker can change or delete a lesson anytime.
Read-aloud voice
Most words on the site are read with voice clips we recorded ahead of time. If something hasn't been recorded yet, only the words being read are sent to Cloudflare's AI voice service to make the audio, and the words are noted so we can record them later. To keep costs fair, we count how much each visitor uses the voice in an hour using a scrambled code made from the internet address (the address itself isn't stored), and those counts are deleted after the hour. You can always switch to your device's own voice in My look. Spanish and French words are read by your device's voice.
Word meanings
When you make your own vocabulary list, the words (just the words) are looked up in the Simple English Wiktionary and the Free Dictionary, and the meanings are saved so each word is only looked up once.
Services we use
The site runs on Cloudflare, which stores the saved data and backups and sends the sign-in and request emails. Like any website host, Cloudflare handles internet addresses to deliver pages and stop attacks; we don't keep logs of visits. Fonts, pictures, maps, voices and games all come from our own site, so no other company sees your visit.
Children's privacy
Study My Style is made for children, so we follow the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and collect as little as possible. Children can use every learning tool without giving any personal information. Accounts are only for adults, who confirm they're a parent, guardian or teacher. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it. Parents and guardians can ask to see or delete anything saved in their account at any time.

Many pictures in the study chapters are Fluent Emoji by Microsoft, shared under the MIT License. Clocks, shapes and coins were drawn for this site.
Game art (fish, seaweed, clouds, trees, animals and the bunny) is by Kenney, shared as public domain (CC0).
The ready-made science pictures in Label It come from Wikimedia Commons. Each one is public domain or shared under a Creative Commons license, and each lesson names its creator and license right under the picture. We removed the printed words and added numbers; those changed pictures are shared under the same licenses.
Maps use Natural Earth (public domain) and U.S. Census Bureau shapes via us-atlas; county seats come from Wikidata (CC0). Fonts are Andika, Bricolage Grotesque, Lexend, Atkinson Hyperlegible, OpenDyslexic and Playwrite US Trad, all under the SIL Open Font License. Games use Phaser (MIT). Reading passages, experiments and chapters were written for this site.
